Perfect Picnic Basket

This is the picnic basket the girls got to make at my recent Hostess Appreciation event.  Don't you wish you had been here?!  LOL!!

This beautiful basket is one of Lauren's templates that you can find HERE!  Please don't ask me to send you the template!  Lauren creates them for sale, and I would not violate her request that you purchase the patterns through her!!  I can promise you, though, that the templates are so easy to follow and well worth the modest fee that she charges!!

The girls had all different papers, and the finished products were all absolutely lovely!  I think everyone would agree that it was easy to make, and I sent them home with Lauren's web address.  Be sure to look for more of her creations here on my site!

Pretty Pedestal

This is one of my favorite new sets in the catalog - it's called "On A Pedestal".  I adore it with this yummy new DSP!!!

Yesterday the girls came over for the first Stampers 10 party of the year.  We had so much fun!!  This is one of the projects the girls got to make - and it was a doozy!  The outside looks pretty easy, right?  Well, take a look at the inside!

How fun is that?!!  It's a gift card holder made with the new Sizzix die called "Look Here".  It wasn't that it was particularly hard to do (after you know what you're doing!), but it's one of those projects that was best to do slowly, together, and with SNAIL and not Sticky Strip LOL!!!

Amanda (hostess) said "this is the hardest project we've ever done at your house!" ...and she was right!!

The girls loved it, and after we finished, they were glad that we had made it together. 

Honestly, it was much more fun making it as a group!!  The first one I made ended up in the trash.  The second one - well, I went to my very last resort, the house engineer!!  Yep, I said "Steve, can you figure this out?!!"  Let me tell you, he was all over that card!  He loved it - and yes, he figured it out for me.  He's the best!!

Thanks, girls, for coming over yesterday & making this project so much fun.  And, no...I didn't have Panera gift cards included in their projects (you know they asked!!!)  LOL!!

Taste of Tuesdays

Yes, I really did cook this past weekend while my son was visiting!!  One thing we enjoyed was this Strawberry Shortcake.  Who doesn't love strawberry shortcake?!!

I'm constantly looking for ways to make things simpler these days - so when it came to baking a cake - I reached for Tastefully Simple.  Their  "Absolutely Almond Pound Cake" is absolutely yummy!

For the cake, I simply followed directions on the box.  All you do is add butter & water, then bake it.  Now tell me, how simple is that??

While that baked, I prepared the strawberries by chopping them just a bit with the mixer (I know, it would have been just as easy by hand!!) & added a teeny bit of sugar.  For the whipped cream - I'm sure you all know how to squirt that out of a can!  LOL!!

So there's my secret recipe for pound cake - handed down generation to generation to me!  (NOT!!)  OH, BTW, I recently sent my  mom some of the TS Peach Cobbler & Granola Bar mixes, and she is still raving about them.  If you haven't tried them, you should!!!

A new month....a new Big Shot die!

This month Sarah & I have chosen one of the exclusive SU! dies called "Movers & Shapers Curly Label".  Not only is this a fun & versatile die, but there is an all new companion die in the new catalog!!  Be sure to check it out on p. 201!!

This card also features some of the new "In Colors" - Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry.  They are yummy together!

I tried to make this card as summery as possible.  I don't know where "summer" is - but it just hasn't seemed to arrive here yet.  We're well into July now, and have only had 3 or 4 really hot days so far.  What is that all about??  Where is global warming??  Oh well, I'll probably be complaining about the heat in a week or two - so you can just ignore what I just said!

On a personal note....this past weekend was so terrific.  Andy, Misty & the girls left Sunday morning and I already miss them!!  We had a great weekend to do a little bit of "tourism", then spent Saturday afternoon relaxing around the pool.  I am so sun-burned!  It wasn't hot (didn't I already say that??), and we had a nice breeze, so I wasn't paying enough attention to getting burned.  Yes, I had a really good sunscreen on - actually put it on TWICE - but still got a good burn on my chest.  That's OK, it was worth it to have the time to visit.

Anyway, I hope to get back on track this week with more regular posts.  It would be nice to hear from some of you out there!!  Comments have certainly been few & far between lately -is it something I said?!!  LOL!!

Happy 4th of July!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days!!  One of our sons is visiting for just a couple of days - Andy - with his significant other - Misty - and, her daughter & friend (Hannah & Haven).  We've been capturing every moment possible with them!!

Last night was fireworks at Bill & Chris', today we're going to Harpers Ferry, and tonight is more fireworks.  Woo hoo!!

I just wanted to take a quick sec to say that  I hope all of you have a safe &  happy 4th - and I will be back here probably tomorrow with an actual new project!!

Happy New Year! Party Hearty!!

Oh my!  I can't believe it's July 1st already!  That starts a new year in the SU! world - and we celebrate with a new catalog this year.  Woo Hoo!!

There's so much going on this week, too.  I just realized last night that it was TASTE OF TUESDAYS and I didn't have a recipe posted!  Oh my - are you getting the picture??  I'm so far behind!!  So I apologize for that - and promise that next Tuesday I will be back on track.

In the meantime - this afternoon is my FIRST EVER $5 STAMP SALE!!  This is really exciting!  Not only do I hope to clean out some new space for new stamp sets - but I know all my peeps are going to LOVE having new stamps for only $5!!  It's a win/win!!  My friend, Kim, gave me this idea several months ago when she did the same thing.  I know she loves having her closet space back!!

Now...on to the card! I love this card because it's more than just a b'day card, it's a SU! GIFT CERTIFICATE!!  And we know that everyone loves SU! Gift Certificates!!
